Me

Chelly (Chelsea)

Hello! I am the keeper of this blog. I decided to start it as a way to keep track of and share my projects and doings. Here is a lotta bit about me:

I was born in Fairbanks, Alaska and lived there among the moose until I moved to Taft, California (a suburb of Bakersfield). Finally, I ended up in Olathe, Kansas where I completed junior high and high school without a move.

Next, I packed up and said hello to Salt Lake City, Utah. So far, Salt Lake has been my favorite place to live. I enjoyed a typical college experience, independence, boys (one in particular), fantastic new friends, and lots of the local transit system. I loved living in the city and made great memories. I consider it my stomping grounds even though I only lived there for two years.
Now I live in South Ogden, Utah where I mope through work, and a new school, all while missing Salt Lake hehe ;).

How did I end up moving around so much during my short 20 years of life you ask? WELL, my dad worked for the state as a mine inspector where he traveled the tundras of Alaska on a four wheeler and small airplanes (no joke) to make sure the various mines (gold mines and others) were not damaging Alaska's wildlife. He once found a gutted whale on a beach (one that eskimos had killed for meat) and being the rock/fossil/bone lover that he is, he hammered away one of its vertebras to bring home. It remains one of his prized possessions and has a prominent spot on top of a book shelf on his living room. ANYWAYS, after he got his degree as an engineer, we moved to California. The company owned by clorox soon shut down and they transferred him to a bigger project in you guessed it, Kansas.

As for Utah, I wanted to attend a low key religious school for much less expensive than others. So LDS Business College it was! I would recommend this school to anyone and everyone. It has a loving, friendly environment towards all, fantastic teachers, fairly easy studies (as in I had probably a total of 4 finals during my two years there), a good social environment (very diverse group of people), and all for a low, low cost! (I promise they aren't paying me to give such a glowing review, I truly love the place like a second home)

A couple months into the college school year I began dating a very nice young man by the name of Reed Williams. Being the Mormons that we are, we married fairly quickly (exactly one year to the day of our first date) and are still very much in love a year and a half later!
After we received our associates degree from LDSBC (it is a two year school) we moved on to Weber State University which is how we got to South Ogden.
We both very much enjoy our classes. Reed is studying to become an English Teacher and I am studying art, American Sign language and am still nailing down my official major.

Things I enjoy

  • Art. I have always considered myself to be creative, whether it be because of encouragement and praise from my mother, or actual talent is still unknown. I have been exploring different mediums the past few years but consider my creative roots to be alllllll sharpies. Now I make art with more professional mediums but I will always have my big ol' bag of permanent markers.
  • Family. What can I say? My family rocks! Check out my family and J pages for more info on them!
  • Sign Language (or more specifically American Sign Language). I have such respect for the deaf community and my learning sign language may just all be a pathetic attempt to become a part of it hehe. The best way to describe it is FUN!
  • Children. I have a special place in my heart for young children. I have spent a lot of time around babies and young children and find it easier to connect with them than adults hehe. I am trying to find a way to have art and/or sign language land me in a job around kids. The simple answer would be teaching, but I am looking for more options than that. For now I am in the nursery at church where I watch kids between 18 months and three years while their parents attend Sunday school.
Of course I have other interests such as plants, music, clothes, etc, but for now I will only list the most important ones for the sake of the reader (if you have even bothered to make it this far that is ;)).
